Latest NewsFinancial Skills Assessment a Success with Students The Financial Skills Assessment is a free, online tool offering immediate feedback for students and their teachers about financial understanding in line with levels consistent with the national financial literacy framework. Earlier this year a team of teachers who had just tried out the Financial Skills Assessment with students sent us some feedback. Here’s what they had to say… It was very easy for the teacher to collect and analyse the data. This gave each teacher a guide about the level of financial knowledge of each student and most importantly, a guide to the concepts that needed revision or revisiting across the class. Students respond very positively to learning about finances and economics. It is a concept that is important to them and to their future.’ Kym Linke, Program Manager for the Curriculum Framework, at the South Australian Department of Education and Children’s Services commented that, ‘A number of consultants have attended other Consumer and Financial Literacy workshops that I have run in conjunction with the Australian Government Quality Teacher Program (AGQTP) and see the MakingCents Financial Skills Assessment as an additional valuable resource that they can use in this area. ‘ Tip: The Financial Skills Assessment is designed for children aged 10 -12. If your child hasn’t completed the Financial Skills Assessment, speak to their teacher about getting the whole class involved. It may be very useful for you to know what skills your child has when it comes to money management! To see the Financial Skills Assessment please visit www.makingcents.com.au |
